2 Pa'anga

Introduced on 4 December 2023 to commemorate the official birthday of Tonga's founder King Tupou I, the 2 Pa'anga is a red-orange paper note (150 x 70 mm) and the lowest denomination in the new six-note series. Its reverse celebrates the annual migration of humpback whales to Tonga's Vava'u waters, one of the country's premier ecotourism attractions. The note was launched by HRH Prince Ata at a ceremony held at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre in Nuku'alofa.
