Tonga 5 Pa'anga

Launched on 4 December 2023, the purple 5 Pa'anga (150 x 70 mm) marks a historic milestone as one of Tonga's first two notes printed on polymer substrate. The reverse showcases the Ha'amonga 'a Maui, a 13th-century coral-limestone trilithon and one of Tonga's most significant ancient monuments, said to have served as a solar calendar for the Tu'i Tonga kings. Because of its polymer construction, the note incorporates a transparent window with a high-resolution gravure portrait of King Tupou VI featuring the ROTATE security effect.
