The obverse bears a portrait of national poet Taras Shevchenko, while the reverse depicts Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The design follows the standard 2014-series 100 hryvnia note but adds the '30 years of Independence of Ukraine' festive logo on the obverse, applied by screen printing with color-changing optically variable ink. The commemorative note also features the RAPID micro-optic security thread from Crane Currency. Only 30,000 pieces were issued. The note measures 75 x 142 mm.
