The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) introduced an updated 20 hryvnia note in 2023, moving Ivan Franko's portrait from the right side to the centre and printing it on tinted green polymer-reinforced paper. The reverse displays the Lviv Opera House, built in 1900 to a design by architect Zygmunt Gorgolewski, accompanied by a fragment of Franko's own writings and the National Coat of Arms. The 2023 version also carries the patriotic slogan 'Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!' adding a wartime significance to this standard circulation note.
