The 50 hryvnia banknote with a 2021 print date entered circulation on 22 December 2021 and commemorates Ukraine's 30th anniversary of independence (1991-2021). It features Mykhailo Hrushevsky (1866-1934) — historian, founder and first president of the Ukrainian People's Republic — on the obverse, and the Central Rada building in Kyiv on the reverse. The note measures 72 x 136 mm and is printed on magenta-tinted special paper; the front carries a screen-printed logotype '30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence' in OVMI.
