10 Dirhams
The UAE 10 Dirhams polymer banknote of 2024 continues the Central Bank's polymer currency series that began with the 50 Dirham note in 2021. The green-colored banknote measures 147 x 66 mm and is dated 2024 (AH1445). The obverse features the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, one of the UAE's most iconic architectural achievements and a symbol of Islamic heritage and the nation's development under the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan.
The reverse depicts the amphitheater located in Khorfakkan, a coastal exclave of the emirate of Sharjah on the Gulf of Oman, representing cultural and entertainment infrastructure in the eastern emirates. The note bears the signature of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan. The polymer substrate was supplied by De La Rue's Safeguard technology and is printed by Oumolat Security Printing in the UAE, with design management by Crane Currency.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, completed in 2007, is the largest mosque in the UAE and the eighth largest in the world, featuring 82 domes, over 1,000 columns, and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. Its prominent placement on the 10 Dirham note reflects the mosque's status as both a religious landmark and an emblem of the UAE's architectural ambition and cultural identity. The tactile marks on the note enable visually impaired individuals to distinguish different denominations.
