The 1,000 pesos uruguayos denomination is part of the BCU's current banknote family first launched in 2014-2015. The 2021 issue (Serie G) continues this series honouring Juana de Ibarbourou (1892-1979), one of Uruguay's most celebrated poets, known as 'Juana de America.' The obverse features her portrait alongside the Coat of Arms, a map of Uruguay in gold optically variable ink, and registration device laurels. The reverse depicts eight of her most important literary works together with the La Palma de Juana palm tree monument in Montevideo. The note measures 159 x 74 mm.
