The 2,000 pesos uruguayos note belongs to the BCU banknote family introduced in 2014-2015, with the 2021 issue representing Serie D of this series. The obverse features Damaso Antonio Larranaga (1771-1848) — Uruguayan priest, naturalist, and botanist who founded the National Library of Uruguay — while the reverse depicts the National Library's first building (1816). The dominant colors are shades of gray and blue. The note includes advanced optically variable security features consistent with the current BCU series standard.
