5 Bolívares
The 5 Bolivares Digitales (P-115) is one of the inaugural denominations of Venezuela's third currency redenomination, the 'Nueva Expresion Monetaria' launched on October 1, 2021, in which six zeros were removed from the Bolivar Soberano. The vertically-oriented obverse features national liberator Simon Bolivar, while the reverse depicts the Venezuelan Coat of Arms, the Monument to the Motherland on the Carabobo Fields, and the Battle of Carabobo. The note is printed in brown and earth-tone colors on paper measuring 156 x 69 mm, with intricate guilloche patterns and microtext forming a modern 'digital' aesthetic background. The new series was introduced to address Venezuela's severe ongoing hyperinflation crisis and to simplify transactions hampered by unwieldy multi-million bolivar figures.
