The 1,000 Francs CFA banknote issued by BCEAO for use in West African member states including Guinea-Bissau is denominated in the West African CFA franc, a currency pegged to the Euro at a fixed rate of 655.957 CFA francs to 1 Euro. Guinea-Bissau adopted the CFA franc in 1997, replacing the Guinea-Bissau peso currency. The green-colored banknote measures 125 mm by 66 mm.

The front of the banknote is dedicated to the health and education sectors, illustrated with a pharmaceutical caduceus symbol and medical cross alongside books, a slate, and a globe, representing knowledge and medical advancement. These symbols reflect BCEAO's thematic approach of linking currency design to development goals across the West African Economic and Monetary Union member states.

The reverse depicts a pair of dromedaries (one-humped camels) against a typical Sahelian desert background, representing the region's fauna and geography. The note incorporates the modern security features and design standards established in the 2004 series update by BCEAO. The CFA franc's peg to the Euro provides monetary stability for Guinea-Bissau, one of the smaller and economically developing nations within the WAEMU zone.
