10 Kwacha

The Bank of Zambia launched the new Heritage Series on March 31, 2025, comprising six banknotes incorporating enhanced security features and national heritage themes. The 10 Kwacha note, the lowest banknote denomination in the series, features predominantly green coloring with red central motifs. The obverse displays the Bank of Zambia logo, a floral registration device, the Kariba Dam on the Zambezi River symbolizing the nation's hydroelectric infrastructure, a fish eagle in flight representing Zambia's national wildlife, a map of Zambia rendered in bronze Optically Variable Ink (OVI), and the Zambian coat of arms.

The reverse depicts natural elements of Zambian heritage, including the endemic Zambezi teak tree and a pair of pangolins, alongside the iconic Kabwelume Falls in the Northern Province. The design employs a color scheme where the central portion reflects the primary color of the next higher denomination, creating visual continuity throughout the series. The note measures 118 x 69 millimeters and was printed by Giesecke+Devrient of Germany.

Kabwelume Falls, located on the Kalungwishi River in northern Zambia, cascades over 100 meters and is surrounded by pristine forest habitat, making it one of Zambia's most scenic natural landmarks. The pangolin depicted on the reverse is one of the world's most trafficked mammals, and its inclusion on Zambia's currency reflects the nation's commitment to wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection.
