100 Kwacha

The 100 Kwacha banknote was released as part of the Bank of Zambia's Heritage Series in 2024. Measuring 130 x 69 millimeters, this blue-colored denomination serves as a higher-value note in the six-banknote Heritage Series. The obverse displays a fish eagle in flight, the Bank of Zambia logo, a flower as a registration device, a dump truck, a map of Zambia rendered in gold OVI, and the Zambian coat of arms.

The reverse features a baobab tree, two birds perched on a branch, and Lumangwe Falls, emphasizing Zambia's natural heritage and biodiversity. The color progression through the series — from green at lower denominations through mauve and gold to blue at higher values — creates visual hierarchy and aids rapid denomination recognition in everyday transactions.

The fish eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer), featured prominently on the obverse, is Zambia's national bird and a symbol of the nation's identity across multiple denominations in the Heritage Series. Its iconic cry and distinctive appearance over Zambia's many lakes and rivers make it one of Africa's most recognizable birds of prey. The blue color scheme of the 100 Kwacha note visually distinguishes it as a higher-value denomination within the series.
