The brown 20 Kwacha note (145 x 70 mm) pairs Zambia's celebrated natural heritage with its defining industrial identity. The mukwa (Pterocarpus angolensis), a hardwood prized across southern Africa, graces the obverse, while the reverse's copper-mining scene pays homage to the Copperbelt — the economic backbone of Zambia since the colonial era. The black lechwe, a semi-aquatic antelope found in the Bangweulu wetlands, is one of Zambia's most iconic endemic mammals. The 2022 reprint carries upgraded security features.
