50 Kwacha

The 50 Kwacha banknote was released as part of the Bank of Zambia's Heritage Series in 2024. Featuring gold and green coloring, this note emphasizes Zambia's natural environment and wildlife biodiversity. The obverse includes English text and Bank of Zambia branding, a flower registration device, a dump truck representing industrial development, a fish eagle in flight, a map of Zambia rendered in gold Optically Variable Ink, and the Zambian coat of arms.

The reverse highlights endemic natural elements including a baobab tree, two birds perched on a branch representing avian diversity, and the scenic Lumangwe Falls, one of Zambia's notable natural attractions located in Chienge District. The banknote was printed by Crane Currency, representing collaboration with international security printing expertise. The note's design emphasizes the connection between Zambian industrial development and its preserved natural heritage.

Lumangwe Falls, situated on the Kalungwishi River in northern Zambia, is one of the country's most visited waterfalls, forming part of a cluster of falls in the region alongside Kabwelume and Kundabwika Falls. The baobab tree, sometimes called the tree of life, is iconic to the African landscape and holds deep cultural significance for many Zambian communities, symbolizing longevity and resilience.
